This story is told by his grandmother as follows:

The both parents were sick for a long time before his father died. Then his mother got confirmed being HIV positive. She then claimed that it was better to die soon since it would cause less trouble for the others and save them for all the care work. With the words "please take care of my son Emmanuel"  while crying hard. The family wondered but did soon realise that she had already prepared the poison and was fund dead the next morning. Life became diffcult for Emmanuel since his grandmother was already old and it was hard to get food.

Emmanuel gikk ut av Secondary School med svært gode karakterer. Vi hadde lovet ham støtte til videre utdannelse hvis han sto på ordentlig, så da han kom inn på et college for accounting and business i Dodoma, fikk han lov til å begynne der.
